Let's Create a Healthier Campus - One Bite at a Time!
Less Salt. Less Sugar. Less Fat. More Health.
Did You Know? (Smart Symbi Facts)
We get fuel for our study sessions and campus activities from every meal but are often surprised by the threat of the "Not-So-Smart trio" - excess fat, sugars, and salt. But these can be stealthy saboteurs that can hit your long-term health and can steal your energy, focus and clarity at the moment.
The best part? If you are careful, you don't have to give them up entirely!
Now let's look at the real impact of our usual campus snacks:
Snack
Hidden Impact
1 Can of Soda
10 teaspoons of sugar
1 Samosa
18 grams of unhealthy fat
1 Chips Packet
500-600 mg of sodium
Energy Trap: Say Goodbye To The Sugar Crash!
The "energy boost" from chocolate, candy or soda is only temporary. The energy immediately climbs and then drops off quickly, resulting in exhaustion and craving more sugar. Hello, Sugar Crash! Reducing your sugar consumption is the easiest way to keep your energy level steady to help with focus and concentration in those long lectures.
Salt Alert: Quietly Raising Your Blood Pressure
Salt can definitely show up in sauces, instant noodles, and processed foods; it is not just in the chips. But even though you are young, extra sodium can be quietly increasing your blood pressure. Just check the sodium content on the labels to look out for excessive amounts!
Smart Fuel: Fats That Love You Back!
We don't have to be fat-phobic! Healthy fats are important: they protect your heart, they keep you satisfied longer, and they fuel your brain. They are also necessary for the absorption of Vitamins A, D, E, and K.
You will have to eliminate trans fats and fats from oils that are repeatedly deep-fried.

SCHC in Action!
We have recently started the "Trim the Trio" concept at Symbiosis Centre of Health Care by working with students at Symbiosis School on Prabhat Road in Pune. This program provided children with healthy foods that were low in fat, sugar, and salt while also helping them to select more nutritious foods. This session illustrated that awareness can be converted into reality by having smart foods to develop a simple and enjoyable experience.
The program received much public acclaim and media coverage, and positioned SCHC at the forefront of ushering in a healthier generation.
Together, we all feel better! A small change today is a long-term health tomorrow.
"We study hard, snack smart, and live well!" is what we want Symbiosis to hear us say!
