Dr. Alaka spearheads a team of healthcare professionals to provide preventive, promotive, curative healthcare services to approx. 40,000 on-campus students from KG to PG & 4000+ staff. Her role includes leading a team of healthcare professionals to address the broader determinants of health and focuses on the comprehensive and interrelated aspects of physical, mental, social health & wellbeing under primary healthcare services. She has served as a healthy campus leadership team in infectious disease prevention, surveillance, response & control: E.g. H1N1 influenza outbreak in 2009 & COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. She is instrumental in developing & implementing systems, policy guidelines for financially sustainable ‘Healthcare Model’ for accessible & affordable health for staff & Students at Schools & University.
She is guiding the team to implement the on-campus Comprehensive College Health Program. & firmly believes that Health Promotion is a continuous process of enabling people to increase control over and to improve their health.
Her endeavors have resulted in the up-gradation of Health Checkup to Wellness Checkup and introduction of the concept of Managed Healthcare Model - Affordable healthcare with a reduction in out-of-pocket expenses. She has successfully led the team to use Information Technology in healthcare - Electronic Medical Records, document management, etc. She designed the framework of Outcome Metrics Performance Indicator (OMPI)-Health. She has national & international research publications to her credit.
Dr. Alaka is a member of American College of Health Association (ACHA), USA, Pacific Coast College Health Association (PCCHA), USA, National Integrated Medical Association(NIMA) & International health-promoting universities & colleges steering group.
